"No Russian Mafia in Pattaya" – Chief of Banglamung District

CHONBURI: -- A meeting was held at the Chonburi Immigration Office in Soi 5 off Jomtien Beach Road on Thursday to discuss how Pattaya should react to claims that Russian “Mafia” activities in Phuket, which have been much publicized in the press, are also present in Pattaya.

Police Colonel Chaiyor, the Superintendent of Chonburi Immigration was joined by Khun Sukchai, the Chief of Banglamung District at the meeting to discuss claims by the press that Russian’s are now taking over Pattaya which is affecting Thai’s and their chances of gaining employment in certain industries which are now dominated by Russian Nationals who, the reports suggest, are working illegally.

Pattaya Police receive riot training as Bangkok Protests are set to begin

Street Protests against the current government are expected to begin on 7th August in Bangkok in front of the Parliament Building, and Police Officers around Thailand are being asked to volunteer themselves for anti-riot duty should they be required to back-up their Bangkok-based colleagues.

Police Colonel Supachai, the Chief of Banglamung Police, held a brief training session earlier this week attended by 50 Police Officers who have agreed to be part of the anti-riot squad.

The group received training in the use of batons should close-contact with rioters take place.

For many of the officers, this was the first time they had used batons and for many this may be the first time they face aggressive protesters, should the situation escalate.

The Colonel confirmed his team are ready for action and will remain on stand-by for the foreseeable future.

Hotel-Style Renovation For Chonburi Police Station

PATTAYA: -- Saensuk Police Station in Pattaya, Chonburi Province, had gained much of the attention, after it had been renovated with vintage style furniture, a spacious lobby, and good looking and polite receptionists.

Moreover, when citizens arrive at the station to contact the police, they are provided queue tickets and drinks.

Pol.Col. Itthipon Pothithong, the director of Saensuk police station, said that he arranged the renovation in accordance with the policy of the Royal Thai Police which aims to rebrand the image of the police force.

The renovation process started in early 2012, as Pol.Col.Itthipon spent some of his money, including money donated from local residents, to develop the place.

The police station now contains facilities such as car park, coffee shop, playgrounds and a 30-metres-high flagpole.

The renovation had totally changed many residents’ perspectives towards the police, he said.

According to Pol.Col.Itthipon, people tend to feel more welcome and less upset about their worries when they encounter such heart-warming reception from his force.

Pol.Col.Itthipon added that he was glad that the renovation impressed many visitors, and that the station is now living up to its pride as the police station locates in the leading tourism spot of the country.

ACCIDENT

Two injured as train hits pick-up in East Pattaya

PATTAYA: -- On Sunday Morning Police and rescue services were called to a level crossing close to the Nongsadow Village in the East side of Pattaya to investigate reports of a train hitting a pick-up truck which was in the process of crossing the train track.

At the scene was the overturned Mitsubishi pick-up driven by Khun Monleudee aged 49 who was taking her daughter, Khun Prangtip aged 23, back home when she crossed over the track without realizing the crossing lights and siren had been activated warning motorists that a train was approaching.

The level crossing does not have barriers which would have most-likely prevented the accident from taking place.
