The permission date of all visa types will start counting from 1 November 2020.
The Immigration Bureau urges foreigners to renew their visas before the end of the exemption currently in place, in order to avoid overcrowding as the October 31st deadline approaches.

BREAKING NEWS......

During our chat with the MFA yesterday, we were informed that the 60-day Tourist Visa (TR) is coming back, effective very soon!

Please give us a few days to figure out the complete application process details, but what we know right now is....

1. A Royal Thai Police criminal records check is still required
2. Applicants must be able to show a minimum of 500,000THB in their account for the last 30 - 60 days (still not clear on the exact time frame) This may completely disappear or the amount reduced dramatically in the coming days
3. This will be available for everybody, regardless of country or residency
4. Applicants will still need to provide Fit to Fly, and Covid-free certificates and insurance through a Thai insurance company
5. Applicants can arrive on ANY flight coming to Thailand
6. Applicants must still agree to quarantine for 15 nights on arrival - this may be reduced to 10 nights in the coming days
7. Applicants still need to submit documents to an agent in Thailand to assist with the application process
8. It is looking more likely that Bangkok, Phuket and possibly Chiang Mai, will be arrival destinations

Believe us, we know exactly how confusing and perplexing this is - we're in the middle of it!

This is still to become official, but we have it on very good authority that it will be happening in the next few days.

Backtracking, Thailand cuts quarantine time for only 6 nationalities

Six lucky nations will soon be able to slash four days off Thai quarantine, a top health official announced Friday.

Arrivals from countries deemed low risk – China, Vietnam, Taiwan, South Korea, Australia and New Zealand – will only have to quarantine 10 days after the plan wins approval, Kiattiphum Wongrajit of the Public Health Ministry said.

The original plan was to reduce quarantine for all arrivals, but it went over poorly with the public. For now, everyone else will still have to do the full 14 days. 

Kiattiphum added that visitors who have completed quarantine will be required to use a tracking device and check in by phone.

The permanent secretary said tourists would only be allowed to travel to approved provinces based on how effective they are in disease control – and how willing their residents.
Ten provinces are loosely planned for now, including Chonburi and Buriram. All will be proposed for later approval by the COVID-19 task force.
