Flooding leaves cars underwater in the Wichien district of Phetchabun, the area hit hardest by tropical depression Dianmu, on Sunday.

Sukhothai flood victims get emergency supplies

The Northern Disaster Warning Associations paramotor team delivered food, drinks and other supplies by air to flood victims in Sukhothai Ban Kluay subdistrict on Monday.









Flood victims were unable to leave their residences due to the high water level.

The flood situation in Sukhothai's Muang district is currently critical as many subdistricts, namely Thani, Ban Kluay, and Pak Kwai, were inundated and many routes were cut by strong tides.

Bangkok is on alert

Thailand is rushing to protect its capital city Bangkok from floodwaters after inundations in the country’s northern and central provinces killed six people.

Barriers set up to protect Bangkok as severe flooding kills six and affects about 70,000 homes in Thailand.

Soldiers on Tuesday set up barriers and sandbags to protect archaeological ruins and landmarks as well as neighborhoods in the old royal capital Ayutthaya, some 60km (37 miles) north of Bangkok.



Seasonal monsoon rains may worsen the flooding, which extends to about a third of Thailand, officials said on Monday.

About 70,000 homes are estimated to be affected, with the kingdom’s central region the worst hit, the Thai Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Department said.

Possible major flooding expected for Bangkok

New warnings of possible major flooding have been issued for Bangkok and other areas of central Thailand.

Authorities have issued warnings over the rising water level of the Chaophraya river that could bring flooding to the capital Bangkok and surrounding areas.

Seven people have died and two are missing since the weekend from flooding triggered by Tropical Storm Dianmu.

Floods worsen in Northeast Thailand.

Almost 200,000 households in 30 provinces in the lower north and northeastern Thailand have been affected.



Rescuers in northeastern Thailand have waded through fast-flowing floods to rescue dozens of people stranded in their homes.

The government has reassured the public that the situation is manageable.
