10.  Kiloe - haylandskaya φυλή βοοειδών  Τα Kiloe ειναι πολύ ισχυρα ζωα, έχουν προσαρμοστεί για να τρώνε τα φυτά που τα άλλα ζώα αποφύγουν.  Το παχύ μακρύ παλτό τους τους προστατεύει από τις χαμηλές θερμοκρασίες του χειμώνα.   Η φωτογραφία τραβήχτηκε στα Highlands της Σκωτίας.

Ένα από τα καλύτερα μέρη στον κόσμο για να συμμετάσχουν σε καταδύσεις σπηλιάς. , Λέει ο φωτογράφος Christian Vizi: "Δεν εχω μπει σε  σπηλιά από το 1997, αλλά παντα παρασύρομαι απο την ομορφιά της χερσονήσου Γιουκατάν.  .  Οι σπηλιές είναι εκπληκτικά όμορφες, με σταλακτίτες και σταλαγμίτες, κρυστάλλινα νερά, καταπληκτική βλάστηση. "



  17.    Λίμνη Karakol. Στις ακτές της οι σκηνές  είναι μια μικροσκοπική κοινότητα της Κιργιζίας.

19. Dawn, Bagan, το Μιανμάρ.    Αυτό το μέρος είναι γνωστό, πάνω απ 'όλα, για το γεγονός ότι σε μια έκταση 26 τετραγωνικών χιλιομέτρων  βρίσκονται εδώ 4.000 ναοι και ιερά.    Αρχικά η πόλη πήρε το όνομά της, ως Arimaddana (Πόλη, βάζει τους εχθρούς), επίσης γνωστή ως ή καμένης γη

  25.   η νεαρη λεοπάρδαλη στον κορμό ενός πεσμένου δέντρου στη Νότια Αφρική.    Ο πληθυσμός  της λεοπαρδάλης συνεχώς μειώνεται λόγω της λαθροθηρίας, έτσι ώστε τώρα η ευκαιρία να τις συναντήσεις μειώθηκε απότομα.  



26. Χτισμένος το δέκατο έβδομο αιώνα, ο στρογγυλός πύργο στην κεντρική περιοχή της Κοπεγχάγης, στη Δανία.   ?????????? ??? ?????????????? ??? ??????????????? ????????????. Αρχικά είχε χρησιμοποιηθεί ως αστρονομικό παρατηρητήριο.  



  27.    Ιπποδρομίες Palio, Ιταλία.  Ντυμένοι με πολύχρωμα κοστούμια οι αναβάτες πρέπει να κανουν τον γύρο από τρεις φορές της Ptstsya del Campo bareback για υπαρξει ένας νικητής σε αυτό το διαγωνισμό που είναι πολύ δημοφιλής στην Ιταλία.



  28.   Το κέντρο της Αβάνας στα αργά το βράδυ.  



  29.   Tiger, Ταϊλάνδη. , Λέει ο φωτογράφος Patrice Carlton: «Είμαι πολύ περήφανος για αυτή τη φωτογραφία. Με την αίσθηση ότι αυτό το όμορφο  ζώο μπορεί να είναι κατοικίδιο! "

Winners of the National Geographic Photo Contest 2011

"Splashing", Grand Prize Winner and winner of the Nature category. This photo was taken when I was taking photos of other insects, as I normally did during macro photo hunting. I wasn't actually aware of this dragonfly since I was occupied with other objects. When I was about to take a picture of it, it suddenly rained, but the lighting was just superb. I decided to take the shot regardless of the rain. The result caused me to be overjoyed, and I hope it pleases viewers. Location: Batam, Riau Islands, Indonesia. (© Shikhei Goh)

"The Fjellman Family", winner of the People Category. One shot and the reindeer is dead. The Sámi family Fjellman, which lives in Arjeplog, northern Sweden, now have food on their table. "Blue Pond & First Snow", honorable mention in Nature category. The blue pond of the famous tourist resort. This is a place where many tourists gather in spring, summer, and autumn. However, since this pond freezes in winter, nobody is there during that period. This photograph is the moment of the first snow of the season falling on that blue pond. We can see the first snow of the season beginning at the end of October. Why is the pond blue? Because the underground hot spring ingredient is gushing. This blue pond changes color every day. I think that mystical blue and pure white snow are beautiful. All are nature's tints. Location: Biei, Hokkaido, Japan. (© Kent Shiraishi) #

"Zombies, Brisbane", honorable mention in People category. A young family dressed as zombies in Brisbane, Queensland. "Panic in the Pan", honorable mention in Nature category. I was leading a photographic safari in Tanzania's Serengeti National Park. It was midday and we came across a dazzle of zebras approaching a waterhole to quench their thirst. Every few minutes the zebras will enter the water to drink, just to panic and scatter out of the water again. Location: Serengeti National Park, Tanzania (© Marius Coetzee) #

"Flying Kites", honorable mention in Places category. Kite battle at Santa Marta ghetto, Rio de Janeiro. For many years, the kites were used to alert the drug dealers when their enemies were coming. The place was a "war zone" controlled by traffickers that were in constant conflicts against each other to control the drug market. "Auburn Pride", honorable mention in People category. Young men driving into a patch of reflected light along Auburn Road. Part of a larger personal project documenting the western Sydney suburb of Auburn. The series provides a glimpse into the life of the next generation of Australians living in Auburn, peering behind the veil of this little-known side of society. Auburn is a small suburb in Sydney's west, a landing point for many migrants and refugees when they first arrive in Australia. Location: Sydney, Australia (© George Voulgaropoulos) #

"The Hunt", honorable mention in Nature category. I personally believe that, beyond the formal representation of reality, mediated by the technical instruments necessary to fix an image in time, photography is made of insights. The shot is the last act of image capturing and in many ways the easiest part of the whole process. This panning effect, even in its imperfection, with the chromatic harmony of the background, with all the needless information eliminated and the luck of having the big cat's lifted tail in symmetry with the impala horns, brings the observer inside the hunting without distractions. "Waterway to Orbit", honorable mention in Places category. Space shuttle Endeavour STS-130 launches into orbit toward the east, as the stars and waning crescent moon trail toward the west, leaving a beautiful reflection on the Intracoastal Waterway in Ponte Vedra, Florida. This 132-second time exposure of the final night launch of a space shuttle, from launch through SRB separation, was taken 115 miles north of Launch Pad 39A at Kennedy Space Center. "From Up Here", honorable mention in People category. Stephen "ST 2 Lettaz" Harris, and David "Yung Clova" Williams make up the Huntsville rap duo G-Side. I took this photo of them on tour, conducting a cell phone interview with a journalist on a fire escape in Manhattan. The photo speaks to the "D.I.Y." nature of the current independent music scene. Digital technology has played a big role in G-Side's business strategy, enabling them to use the Internet and viral word of mouth to build a diverse international fan base. Στην κατηγορία «Τοπία» νικητής αναδείχθηκε ο Τζορτζ Ταπαν με μια μαγευτική φωτογραφία από το νησί Ονούκ στις Φιλιππίνες, με μια παραλία που μοιάζει εξωπραγματική(ΦΩΤΟ 1).

Μεγάλος νικητής στην κατηγορία «Φύση» είναι η φωτογραφία του Σικέι Γκοχ η οποία απεικονίζει μια λιβελούλα να έχει γαντζωθεί από ένα κλαρί στα νησιά Ριάου της Ινδονησίας (ΦΩΤΟ 2).

Στην Κατηγορία «Άνθρωποι» νικητής αναδείχθηκε η Ιζαμπέλα Νόρτφγιελ με τη φωτογραφία της από έναν κυνηγό του λαού Σάμι της Σουηδίας, λίγο πριν σκοτώσει ένα ελάφι (ΦΩΤΟ 3). Στην κατηγορία αυτή τιμητική διάκριση πήρε και ο Γιώργος Βουλγαρόπουλος για την ασπρόμαυρη φωτογραφία μιας ομάδας νεαρών μέσα σε ένα αυτοκίνητο στο Σίδνεϊ (ΦΩΤΟ 4).

Winners: National Geographic Traveler 2012 Photo Contest

This image was shot in the Kyrgyz lands of the Wakhan Corridor. The intimacy of this everyday life moment, shot inside of a family yurt, is in total contrast with the harsh environment these nomadic tribes live in. On the right we notice a television and a sound console. These tribes live weeks away from any village by foot. In spite of being located at an altitude of 4,300 meters in one of the most remote areas of Afghanistan they are equipped with solar panels, satellite dishes and cellphones. Near the city of Morondava, on the West coast of Madagascar lies an ancient forest of Baobab trees.  Unique to Madagascar, the endemic species is sacred to the Malagasy people, and rightly so.  Walking amongst these giants is like nothing else on this planet.  Some of the trees here are over a thousand years old.  It is a spiritual place, almost magical. The village of G·sadalur and the island of Mykines in the background. Until a tunnel was built in 2004, the 16 residents living in G·sadalur had to take a strenuous hike or horseback over the steep 400-meter mountain in order to make it to the other villages. It was a rare sunny day in the Faroe Islands and I had to wait until the clouds rolled in to provide some softer light. I decided to go with a long exposure (1 minute 10 seconds) to illustrate the force of the wind and a serene sea among the isolated islands.
